AUSBAU/ELABORATION

11 months of ageing “sur lie” with “batonnage”* in French oak barrels (Vosges). *Ageing on natural fine lees, which is raised at regular intervals during a period of time between 2 – 6 months/

COLOUR/FARBE

Purple red.

NASE/ NOSE

Intense balsamic aromas (Eucaliptus, Pennyroyal, Incensem Iodine, Sage) and Chinese ink.

 GAUMEN/MOTH

Laurel and liquorice. Intensely fresh and very powerful. Balsamic and voluminous.

 KLIMATOLOGIE/CLIMATOLOGY

This was a very dry and cold winter. Just dropping 37L in January, February and half of March, with some snow, freezing every morning -10ºC. The outbreak began in the first week of April, about 15 days later than other years. Flowering began on 27.05.12 an ended on 07.06.12. The summer was long, hot and dry. Vintage started he 23.8.12 and ended the 15.09.12. Harvest of excellence quality but in some varieties 30% less production due to drought in spring. It has been the driest winter in 40 years and wettest autumn (458 L) of the last 30.
